Big Bass

We tested Big Bass UK over a rainy week and it turned into the game we kept reaching for during coffee breaks. The idea is simple: you cast, you wait, and when something bites you tap at the right moment to reel it in. What sounds basic on paper gets a lot of its charm from the timing — the little tug of resistance is nicely tuned, and landing a tricky catch feels earned rather than random.

Controls are all one-thumb friendly. You swipe to cast, tap to react, and hold to steady the line. There's no clutter on screen and no aggressive interruptions, which is rare enough these days to mention. The art is bright and calm, and the sound of water plus the occasional splash makes it a good game to unwind with.

It won't reinvent your idea of a mobile game, and after a few hours you'll have seen most of what it offers. But as a relaxing pick-up-and-play title it does its job well. We came away liking it more than we expected to.
